How to Apply GitOps on Infrastructure

GitOps has become more than a buzzword in the DevOps community. It consists of a set of best practices designed to better deploy, manage and monitor Kubernetes clusters and applications. By adopting GitOps everything becomes code, therefore empowering DevOps teams to control every aspect of the development process from beginning to end.

Viktor Farcic, developer advocate at Upbound, member of the Google Developer Experts and a published author, has been doing GitOps even before the term was coined by Alexis Richardson in 2017. Viktor believes that even though many developers have been doing GitOps for a while, defining what it really is and giving GitOps a name is what has helped with its rapid adoption. 

Viktor is one of our outstanding speakers presenting at GitOps Evolution Virtual Summit. During his session, Viktor will talk about GitOps and explore Crossplane combined with Flux as a potential solution for all infrastructure needs and to see whether it fits into the broader Kubernetes ecosystem.

Crossplane is an open-source project that enables engineers to use Kubernetes to provision and manage infrastructure, services and applications. Combined with Flux, it allows us to apply GitOps principles to constantly monitor infrastructure and fix any drifts there are between the current and desired states.
