GitOps has emerged to become the new standard methodology for developers building cloud-native applications. With GitOps, developers gain a streamlined, standardized workflow for configuring, monitoring, managing and updating Kubernetes and all the applications deployed on it, even in hybrid cloud environments.

Weaveworks is an AWS Certified Advanced Partner that built eksctl. Founded in 2014, Weaveworks makes it fast and simple for developers and DevOps teams to build and operate powerful containerized applications. Weaveworks minimizes the complexity of operating workloads in Kubernetes by providing automated continuous delivery pipelines, observability and monitoring.

In this session, Leo Murillo, Principal Solutions Architect at Weaveworks, and Zohaib Khawaja, Partner Solutions Architect at AWS, demonstrate why GitOps is a standardized workflow to deploy, configure, monitor, update and manage Kubernetes, its components and all the applications that run on it.

In this workshop, we will teach and demonstrate:

  • The four principles of GitOps
  • How to boost stability and reliability in Kubernetes environments
  • How to incorporate a robust security model from the start
  • Using GitOps for high availability and disaster recovery on EKS
  • Managing governance, risk and compliance (GRC) for Kubernetes on EKS with GitOps
  • Accelerating software development with GitOps and EKS
  • Managing machine learning and artificial intelligence models with GitOps on EKS

Workshop pre-requisites:
To start the workshop, you will need an AWS account. To complete these workshop modules, you will first need to install eksctl. Instructions for doing this can be found at eksctl.io. eksctl (pronounced “eks control”) is a simple CLI tool for creating clusters on EKS. It is written in Go, uses CloudFormation, was created by Weaveworks and it welcomes contributions from the community.

*If you are using your own AWS account, you will need permissions to create EKS clusters plus admin rights within your EKS cluster to configure configuration rules and install agents. Ensure you have authority within your organization to do this in your tenant.

What You’ll Learn in This Webinar

You’ve probably written a hundred abstracts in your day, but have you come up with a template that really seems to resonate? Go back through your past webinar inventory and see what events produced the most registrants. Sure – this will vary by topic but what got their attention initially was the description you wrote.

Paint a mental image of the benefits of attending your webinar. Often times this can be summarized in the title of your event. Your prospects may not even make it to the body of the message, so get your point across immediately.  Capture their attention, pique their interest, and push them towards the desired action (i.e. signing up for your event). You have to make them focus and you have to do it fast. Using an active voice and bullet points is great way to do this.

Always add key takeaways. Something like this....In this session, you’ll learn about:

  • You know you’ve cringed at misspellings and improper grammar before, so don’t get caught making the same mistake.
  • Get a second or even third set of eyes to review your work.
  • It reflects on your professionalism even if it has nothing to do with your event.
