Ram Chakravarti serves as the chief technology officer for BMC Software, Inc., on assignment from KKR Capstone. In this role, he oversees BMC’s overall technology strategy, common architecture, corporate development and shared services including user experience design, quality assurance and cyber security. Ram joined KKR Capstone in 2018 to focus on value creation in KKR’s technology investments in private equity and growth equity.
Previously, Ram was an associate partner at McKinsey & Company where he established McKinsey’s Digital Architecture Service Line in North America. Prior to that, Ram was a director of architecture at both Oracle and IBC. Earlier in his career, Ram led complex ERP and CRM deployments at a fortune-100 organization, co-founded a company and worked at Oracle, Ariba (now part of SAP) and technology startups in software engineering roles.
Ram holds master’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and the Indian Institute of Science. He co-authored a book on R&D and IT portfolio management which has been used in graduate programs at the University of Pennsylvania and other schools in the US.
