Mainframe software delivery is modernizing, but automation, AI, and governance are not yet advancing as one coordinated system. Organizations often run manual processes alongside standardized pipelines, making integration across tools, teams, and controls a central challenge.
Techstrong polled 145 practitioners and decision-makers in mainframe software delivery to understand their delivery environments, modernization priorities, and use of AI. The findings show that 47% of organizations still have manual or legacy delivery processes in their environment. While 86% use AI somewhere in mainframe delivery, only 30% identify support for AI-assisted delivery as a top strategic outcome. The report explores what it will take to connect these efforts and embed security and governance into delivery workflows.
