Agile IT Operations Integral to Driving Digital Transformation

Digital transformation is driving the need for agility and speed across organizations of all sizes. DevOps has emerged as a response to fast development of customer facing apps for both web and mobile.  Alongside these, enterprises are left grappling with complex, enterprise systems while being told to ‘rip and replace’ these backend systems and move them to the cloud.

As a result, traditional enterprises are under tremendous pressure. Automic v12 was built to address these needs and assist IT operations teams in their digital transformation by driving agility across their core business applications, and empowering their DevOps initiatives.

“As enterprises embrace digital transformation, they are being asked to “rip & replace” their core business applications into the cloud,” said Todd DeLaughter, CEO of Automic Software. “We believe you don’t have to throw out all your battle-tested operational know-how in order to increase speed and agility. Automic V12 has been designed for the hybrid enterprise to drive agility across operations, while empowering new DevOps initiatives”.

The Automic v12 Unified Product Portfolio:

Automic v12 comprises three unified products that are built on the industry’s most open and scalable business automation platform:

  • Automic Workload Automation v12, to centrally create, manage and monitor business processing across your hybrid clouds.
  •
  • Automic Release Automation v12, to coordinate application release and deployment for core business applications and DevOps initiatives across your hybrid clouds.
  •
  • Automic Service Orchestration v12, to orchestrate automation services across the business, application and infrastructure layers of your hybrid clouds.

Supporting Quotes

John Gildenzoph, DevOps engineer at TASC:

“We were doing one release a month, shutting down the entire website for six to eight hours on a Saturday morning to complete deployments.  We knew this was too time-consuming and arduous of a process; something had to change.

We took the step of using Automic Release Automation [ARA] to orchestrate our deployment pipeline, onboard DevOps practices and catapult our software innovations into production. ARA is platform-agnostic. You can use it like an assembly line and can plug the worker applications in along the assembly line as you like. For example, we use Jenkins as one of those “worker applications” and ARA tells Jenkins to build the software, then moves the software along itself to the next tool to do the next job.

Using Automic’s solution is easy, quick and works seamlessly for what we need to do here at TASC. No more downtime, no more Saturday’s in the office. It’s exactly what we needed”.

Julie Craig
Research Director, Application Management Enterprise Management Associates, Inc.:

“Automic Release Automation (ARA) v12 is all about simplifying the steps necessary to utilize and maintain the solution to enhance the value proposition of the automation platform as a whole. The intelligent “Zero Downtime” deployment and update capabilities are not simply about updating Automic agents with no downtime. They are also about removing infrastructure maintenance bottlenecks with intelligent software that can determine, for example, which agents are best updated at which time. With an enhanced REST API, customers can leverage ChatOps to use their favorite chat client to interact directly with the ARA platform while processes are in-flight, without going through a dashboard. Both of these new features are impressive differentiators which both current customers and prospects will likely appreciate.”

Andy Cureton, CEO Forest Technologies:

“As DevOps initiatives accelerate across enterprises, agility within the core business applications becomes critical. Without agility here, DevOps initiatives will fail as they are inherently linked to newer digital services. v12 has clearly been designed to enable this required agility, empowering the DevOps initiatives that are making Digital Transformation real.”
