Global DevOps: Literally a Changing World

By: DevOps.com on June 3, 2019 Leave a Comment

Faster delivery, greater security and higher quality were always aspirations for any organization creating apps. Today, through the use of agile for creation, DevOps for building and cloud for delivery, these aspirations are achievable for worldspanning apps by even small teams with tight budgets.

Any application that is deployed to the internet is, by definition, global. New tools and communications mechanisms have alleviated much of the pain of global operations.

DevOps Connect:DevSecOps @ RSAC 2022

As we researched this ebook, clear messages started coming through from the experts we spoke with.

  • Global DevOps Is About Cloud Enablement

Taking an application or portfolio global plays into cloud’s strengths—upgrades can be done easily with DevOps automation on a rolling basis, and configuration information is readily stored as code. DevOps allows for standardization of images/instances and automation of all phases of development.

  • Global DevOps Security Is Web Security

the same DevSecOps used to put an application online is the DevSecOps required when doing global DevOps. Security in the age of the internet is relatively unchanged when taking an application global. An application on the internet is already global from an attack/vulnerability perspective. That leaves DevSecOps teams able to focus their efforts on other things such as enhanced vulnerability assessment while changing to a global model.
